Montgomery Scott, or "Scotty", is the Scottish chief engineer on the Starfleet starship Enterprise. He is also the second officer of Enterprise, with only Admiral Christopher Pike, Captain James Kirk, and Commander Spock above him. Scott is a genius, and came up with the formula for beaming. He joined the crew of the starship Enterprise during the threat of the time traveling Romulan, Nero. He was found on an ice planet by James Kirk while Kirk was temporarily exiled by its current Captain, Spock. He was brought to the ship, and was appointed chief engineer.
